14K GOLD-FILLED JEWELLERY
14K Gold-Filled Jewellery is (we think) the best material to use for both quality and affordability – something Katri’s looks for in our pieces. Gold-filled jewellery involves an outer layer of 14k gold that is pressure-bonded to the brass base metal and contains at least 5% gold by weight. This technique is more durable than plated and vermeil jewellery and provides a longer life span for your pieces with the right care. Gold-filled Jewellery is also safe for customers who may be sensitive to metal. However, please be aware that a small amount of brass is still used in gold-filled jewellery, so customers with this specific metal allergy may have a reaction to it.
Gold-Filled Jewellery is also super low maintenance and more durable than gold plated or gold vermeil jewellery. Over time, your gold-filled piece still may need some care. Take a look at our jewellery care page.
STAINLESS STEEL JEWELLERY
Our stainless-steel jewellery uses a hypoallergenic grade 316L for greater resistance to tarnish. Considered one of the safest metals to use for sensitive skins, our stainless-steel jewellery is plated using an IP Plating method, where two layers of material are applied in a vacuum chamber. With normal use, stainless-steel jewellery does not change colour and is tarnish resistant. As a result, we generally use stainless-steel for our stackable rings as it is the piece of jewellery that will have the most exposure to water and other substances (like a martini).
GOLD VERMEIL Jewellery
Gold vermeil jewellery (or Gold Plated over Sterling Silver or .925 Silver) is made of a thick layer of gold (2.5 microns) electroplated over sterling silver (.925) for maximum quality.
GOLD PLATED JEWELLERY
Gold plated jewellery is made of a thin layer of gold electroplated over brass. We choose materials with the thickest plating, when possible, to ensure durability.
